Ben was born September 21, 1930, in Savannah, Missouri, to Desmond Broadus (Jack) Dawson and Mary Amanda Weddle Dawson. Ben and his wife, Sally Kay Kurz, had been married for over 51 years.
Ben and Sally were residents of Lafayette for over 43 years. Ben assumed the sales distributorship position with Hillyard Inc. of St. Joseph, Missouri, and during Ben's 45 year tenure at Hillyard, he was twice named salesman of the year.
Ben was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Moila Temple in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was survived by his wife, two sons; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and one sibling, Vernell Gingg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Desmond and Mary Dawson; and four siblings, Maxine Dawson Reeves, James Dawson, Eugene Dawson, and Jerry Dawson.
