NOTE: Some researchers indicate that this was Elizabeth Irons. This is NOT the same Elizabeth. The only record found for Elizabeth Irons marrying a William R. Congrove is from 1823 in Bullitt County Kentucky, which is not in the correct time line or geography.

According to the 1830 U.S. Census, William Congrove is shown as "Junior".

The following Pension Application Hearing For William Congrove Sr. - 1833 shows a distinction of William Jr., and his father, William, Sr. [Indicates a 1775 birth year for William, Jr.]

"Personally appeared in Open Court Wm Congrove Junior and made Oath, that he distinctly recollects, his Father being in the Army, and losing his Coat & Blanket, that he has always remembered the circumstances although a small Boy when it happened, and has often heard it talked of by his father and older brother, that he [William Congrove, Jr.] is about 58 years of age as near as he can believe and understands, and has no hesitation in saying that his Father Wm Congrove Senior was in the Revolutionary War."

Per the 1850 U.S. Census, William and Elizabeth Congrove resided in District 27, Jackson County, (W)Virginia. Listed are:
-William Congo, age 75, born Virginia
-Elizabeth Congo, age 56, born Virginia
-Eliza Congo, age 24, born Ohio

William Congrove, Jr. is not listed in the 1860 U.S. Census, however, Elizabeth Congrove is listed living in her son's (Samuel Congrove) household. Also listed in the household was her other son, Elijah Congrove. They resided in Olive Township, Meigs County, Ohio.
