Services held Saturday, April 18th, 2009, 1:00 p.m., True Vine Baptist Church with Rev. Orvin Garrett, Officiating. Funeral under the direction of Percy Garner & Son Mortuary, San Augustine, Texas.

Mr. George W. Garrett was born on June 13, 1925 to the late Mack Randall and Molly Garrett in San Augustine, Texas. He was one of five children of which two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Affectionately known as "Brother" by his sisters, he spent his entire life in San Augustine.

He served in the United States Navy and later married the late Virginia Mae Mitchell. They raised one daughter the late Alif Yuvonne Garrett Grant. George was highly respected and loved by his family and friends. On April 9, 2009, God called him home to rest at the age of 83 years old.

He leaves to cherish his memory; one sister, Clara Mae Biggers; half-brother, Charles Randall; grandson, Ravette Grant; grand-daughters, Megan Olivia Grant and Courtney Yuvette Grant; as well as nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
