Mrs. Susie Bowers Anderson, 99, of 810 North Roan Street, Elizabethton, formerly of the Blue Springs Community, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Lawson and Mary Williams Bowers and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alf Anderson; a son, Dallas Anderson and a daughter, Doris Grindstaff. Mrs. Anderson was the oldest member of the Blue Springs Christian Church. She loved to work in her garden and she enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by a daughter Mary Anderson; a son, Carl Anderson, both of Elizabethton; three grandsons, Albert Grindstaff, MO; Gerald Grindstaff and Larry Grindstaff, both of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be conducted on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 7:30 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jill Kemp.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 -7:30 PM on Thursday, or at the home, 810 North Roan Street, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Honeycutt, Fain Bowers, Ernest Bowers, Terry Oliver, Sherrell Bowers and Gayle Oliver. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery
