De Forest - Stephen "Steve" C. Ryan, age 60, passed away at home unexpectedly from a cardiac event on Monday, September 9, 2013. He was born on May 26, 1953 in Madison, WI, the son of Ivan and Verlee (Klopfenstein) Ryan. Steve was caring, loving and helping to his family. He was known to be funny and could make everyone laugh even when they were down. Steve was a lifelong sports fan. He played both baseball and basketball in high school and continued playing legion baseball after high school. He was a huge DeForest Norskie fan and listened to all the Friday night games on the radio. Steve spent much time on the road traveling the highway by himself while working for Honeywell and Stanley. He enjoyed his time on the road but missed being away from his family. Steve was giving of his time, he spent many hours volunteering at the Prairie Pride Food Pantry at the Arlington United Methodist Church. Steve's last gracious act in death, was to be a donor. Steve will be missed by his family especially his wife Pat, his wife of 25 years, whom he took very good care of.

Steve is survived by his wife, Pat (Morse) Ryan; his sons, Carl (Carly) Olson, Gary (Jenny) Olson, Adam (Kayla) Ryan, and Jeff Ryan; brothers, Richard (Debbie) Ryan, Norman (Sandy) Ryan, and Jeff Ryan; sisters-in-law, Peggy Morse and Lorraine (Les) Degner; brothers-in-law, Dean Morse, Henry (Cindy) Morse, and Wayne (Irene) Morse; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Verlee Ryan; sister, Cheryl Ryan; daughter Jackie; and grandson Tristian Ryan.
