Carrol E. Simmet of Saginaw, Michigan, mother, grandmother and best friend passed away peacefully June 28, 2014 at her home with her family at her side. Age 77 years. The daughter of the late William and Mary Pettyplace was born September 24, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Henry Allen Simmet June 1, 1957. He predeceased her June 15, 2002. Carrol retired as an assistant manager at Kmart in 1988. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Carrol especially loved spending time with her family. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Henry A. Simmet Jr., Fort Wayne, Indiana; Mary I. (Jeffery) Schark, Saginaw; William H. Simmet, Fort Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren, Sarah (Tommy) Copeland, Delaware, Ohio; Jeffery, Ryan and Kyle Schark, all of Saginaw; two brothers and one sister, Al and June Pettyplace, Dave and Terry Pettyplace, Dawn and Dave Thelen; several nieces and nephews. Carrol was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Chuck Pettyplace. Honoring Mrs. Simmet's wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Covenant HealthCare Hospice.
