John H. Coach Fullington, Jr. passed away Friday, late evening, June 27, 2014 at a local care facility.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles, LA and an Army Veteran. Known as coach to many L.C. youth and their parents, he lead baseball teams to championships, including World Series; following his softball playing and coaching years, he was the coffee maker at Thomas Supply gaining the friendship of many there. His family extends special thanks to Carol and Pris Fruge, the Thomas family and Charlene Fountain who were invaluable friends and helpers to him. Sincere appreciation to the entire staff and caregivers at Rosewood Nursing Center.

Mr. Funllington is survived by two sisters, Myrtis Gilmore and Marie Pemberton; one brother in law, Bobby Gunn Sr., numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Verona Fullington,; one sister, Beverly Gunn; one brother, Toby Allen Fullington; and an infant brother.


Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Monday, June 30, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume Monday, June 30, 2014 at 8:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sallier Cemetery. Nolan Moore will officiate services.
