He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hannah Marie Baker Rhoads, and his second wife, Doris Mae Rhoads.
He attended Staunton Military Academy. He was owner and operator, with his first wife, of Sterling Jewelers in Shamokin and then Baker's Jewelry Store in Hagerstown. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of Exchange Club in Hagerstown.
He is survived by a daughter, Kay Browne of Jackson, Miss.; a son, Frank Rhoads of Sharpsburg; two stepsons, Van Showe of Hagerstown and Randall Showe of Arizona; a sister, Hazel Clark of Florida; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Hutchenson.
A graveside service was held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown; arrangements were by the Minnich Funeral Home.
