Claude D. "Chick" Walters Jr., 89, of Fawn Township, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at home. He was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Tarentum, a son of the late Claude D. and Lydia (Sweeney) Walters. He had lived the past 26 years in Fawn Township and prior to that in Tarentum since the 1950s. Chick was a metallurgist at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Brackenridge for 38 years and a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Force. He was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights, and a former member of Natrona Heights VFW No. 894 and was a 1943 graduate of Tarentum High School. Chick enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, photography and skiing. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Louise C. (Jacobs) Walters; children, David A. (Dee) Walters, of Goshay, Miss., Robert M. Walters, of Fawn Township, and Janice (Mark) Levine, of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Dawna L. Walters, Kimberly Rummery, Rebecca Watkins, Meagan Robinson, Jennifer, Jaclyn and Matthew Levine; six great-grandchildren; two nephews, Robert and Ronald Grove; and a sister, June (Robert) Grove, of Buffalo Township. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Blessing service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, with full military honors by the Tarentum VFW.
