He was born July 5, 1924, in Sparta to Earl and Hazel Leary Deppe. He married Bessie Hook on July 1, 1951, in Cambridge. She died Sept. 18, 1995.
Leroy was employed for 20 years as a truck driver for the former Stanley Food Corp. in Milan. He drove for the former Gate City Steel Co. in Davenport and retired from the former Art Quiring Truck Division in Davenport, Iowa.
He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 407th Infantry, 102nd Division in Ansbach, Germany. He stayed in the service until October 1948.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori McCrary of Sherrard; a son, Michael Deppe of Coal Valley; two stepsons, Roger (Ruth) Hurt and Gale (Nina) Hurt, both of Oquawka; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild lovingly expected; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, a son, David, three brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death.
