James Kevin Selig, 44, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Dec. 24, 1969, in Madison, to James I. and Margie A. Hartlege Selig. He was a 1988 graduate of Southwestern High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Ball State University in 1992. He settled in Bradenton, Fla. in 1995 and began an 18-year career with Comcast Communications, working as an accounting representative. He enjoyed traveling, craft beer, photography, collecting and spending time on his parents' farm. He was also a fan of the Florida Gators, Chicago Cubs and University of Louisville Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Ballard Selig, whom he married March 26, 2011; his parents: James I. and Margie A. Hartlege Selig of Lexington; one sister, Debbie Selig Presser of Louisville, Ky.; four nieces; one nephew; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kent United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery near Lexington.
Friends may call at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. A memorial service will also be held in Florida at a later date.
