Paul Lee Prater, 89, passed away on December 27, 2019.

Born, August 29, 1930 in Waldo, Arkansas to Herbert and Ella (Elledge) Prater. His parents and his brothers, Ernest, John L, and James Prater and sisters, Racine (Prater) Townley and Betty Jo Prater have all have preceded him in death.

His wife of 47 years, Frances (Pierce) Prater and sons, Danny Prater and Jarrell Prater and great grandson, Dustin Prater have also preceded him in death.

He is survived by children Teresa Garrett (Dusty), Sheila Wetherbee (Duane), Karen Holton (John), Sean Prater (Patsy), and Tracy Prater. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and cousins.

Paul served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Williams, Arizona from 1951 to 1952. His work life consisted of farming, working in a paper mill, a meat packing plant, a copper mine and a dynamite company.

Paul lived and worked in Silverbell, Arizona from 1955 until his retirement in 1984. He also lived in Strawn, Texas and Magnolia, Arkansas and most recently, Marana, Arizona. He was living at Asterion Acres in Tucson, Arizona at the time of his death.

A memorial will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Marana Mortuary, 12146 W. Barnett Road, Marana, Arizona at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Silverbell Historical Society @ silverbellaz.com, click on donate or mail to 3901 N Via de Cordoba, Tucson, AZ 85749. Please mention that the donation is in honor of Paul Prater.

His final resting place will be in Strawn, Texas beside his wife Fran and a graveside service will be planned in the early spring.
