Joyce Murphy Lundell
26 April 1928 – 19 June 2014

Heaven became a little more beautiful when Mary Joyce Murphy Lundell peacefully departed this life on 19 June 2014 in Ogden UT. Her love of beauty and music will enhance wherever she is. She was born 26 April 1928 to Elias Smith Murphy and Frances Lillian Wanless. Joyce spent most of her life in Ogden UT, attending Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High School.

Joyce graduated from Weber College; then she attended BYU where she met Orville C. Lundell. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 24 August 1949. From this union came six children: Michael, Joanne, Craig, Sharon, Scott, and Brett.

Joyce was an accomplished pianist, organist, and accompanist. She received some of her organ training from former Tabernacle Organist, Robert Cundcik. Hundreds of Ogden's children learned to play piano from Joyce over the years, and many sang or played a musical instrument with her excellent accompaniment.
Springtime was a time of great joy each year for Joyce, for raising beautiful flowers was another legacy Joyce left us. She claimed to have 'dirt in her veins' and loved to spend time taking care of, and enjoying her garden. Her neighbors often commented on the beauty of her flowers.

Joyce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years, including Stake Relief Society President and Ward Organist in virtually every ward she lived in. She lived a life of Christ-like service to others.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, Two sons: Michael and Brett, daughter, Sharon, her parents and a sister, Jane. She is survived by daughter: Joanne (Andy) Schow, Pleasant View, UT, Sons: Craig (Pam) Lundell, Houston, TX, and Scott (Diane) Lundell, Omaha, NE, brother: E. Smith (Roma Jean) Murphy, and sister: Gloria Law, 8 grand-children and 16 great-grand-children.
