Todd Ashley Butler, 50, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Des Monies following a lengthy illness.

Todd was born September 6, 1955 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Vivian Smith McNeil. He graduated from Peru, High School in 1973. Todd served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Concordia College in 1988. On August 23, 1980 he married Rebecca Lee Hogan in Iowa City.

Todd had worked at KCCI Channel 8 in Des Monies and was proud of the fact that he had his FCC first class radio and telephone license. Todd was a member of the Des Monies Model Railroad Club and the A.R.R.L. HAMM Radio Club, where his call sign was N0NCL. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Butler, Des Monies; two sisters, Heidi Bednarski and husband Chris, and Sue Correll, both of Peru; two brothers, Roger McNeil of Des Plaines, Ill. and David McNeil of Abilene, Texas; his mother-in-law, Donna Hogan of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Darolyn Wall of Chandler, Ariz., Teri Kelchen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Debra Schatzle of Walker, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Jerald Hogan of Cedar Rapids, Mike Hogan of Norwalk, Iowa, Derreck Hogan of Overland Park, Kan.; and his cats Belle, Beau and Jasmine.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents.


Funeral services to celebrate Todd's life will be held Tuesday at 1p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home.

Burial with military rites will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Assn.
