Lula Frances Carroll, 74, of 339 Third Avenue died Sunday, October 27, 2002 at the home of her daughter in Crestline, Ohio after a brief illness. Mrs. Carroll was born November 21, 1927 in Ashland, Kentucky living in the Mansfield area for 47 years. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. Lula enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jake & Francine Dowdy of Niles, Ohio and Carl & Della Dowdy of Lexington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie & Fred Elkins of Mansfield, Judy & David Mock of Crestline and Brenda & Richard Barton of Little Hocking, Ohio; two stepsons and daughter-in-law, Michael Carroll of Mansfield and Jerry & Linda Carroll of Diamond, Ohio; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Debbie & Steve Baxter of Mansfield and Patricia & Lee Fassett of New Albany, Pennsylvania; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Troy Burton of Toledo, a sister, Mae Richards of Maine; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; her dear friend, Wanda May; and her beloved pet, Gidget. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington & Myrtle Hall Burton; her first husband, Oscar Dowdy; second husband, Willard Carroll; a daughter; two grandsons; four brothers; and a sister.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Keith Carlisle. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Wesleyan Church.
