George Scott Poole, 30, of Williamson, passed away on June 22, 2014, in Williamson, West Virginia.

Born May 11, 1984, in Huntington, West Virginia, he was the beloved son of George and Patricia Surgeon Poole of Williamson.

Scott was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents G. D. and Mary D. Poole and his maternal grandparents, George and Mary Surgeon.

Scott was a 2002 graduate of Williamson High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance at Marshall University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

He was a licensed insurance agent with City Insurance Agency located in downtown Williamson.

Scott was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamson.

He was actively involved in numerous community organizations including the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Williamson Parks and Recreation Board. He was a member of Mountain Club and he was an organizer with the Hatfield McCoy Reunion.

Perhaps closest to Scott's heart was the Hatfield McCoy Trail System. Scott loved the great outdoors and all the adventure he found in nature and riding along the trails. Scott's father, George, was a visionary in the formation of the trail system which brings people from everywhere to southern West Virginia to enjoy the rugged trails.

Scott was a beacon of light in our world. He was funny, loving, kind, helpful, compassionate and considerate. He was blessed with a magnetic personality that drew people to him. Scott was never without a smile. He simply made people feel good.

Scott will be sorely missed but lovingly thought of and remembered always.
