Marilyn Jewel Sawyer Barrett, 80, Norman, OK, passed away June 25, 2014. She was born August 27, 1933 in Norman to Hulett S. Sawyer and Jewel V. Potts Sawyer.

She lived on the family farm until the age of 11. Her family moved to town in 1945. She graduated from Norman High School a year early. She became a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell at the age of 16 and also work in the S. W. Bell business office.

On July 19, 1958 she married Aden E. "Bud" Barrett Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada.

They made their home in Norman. After leaving Southwestern Bell she was a full time homemaker and mother of three children.

She loved renovating and working on her home, which she had moved to the family farm. She was great at figuring out solutions to problems that, at the time, seemed almost impossible to solve.

She loved gardening, nature, living in the country, red birds, roses, traveling with her family, and listening to good music. She loved Christmas and passed that on to her children. She enjoyed writing and reading poetry. She also was great at memorizing and reciting poetry and literature.

She was a life long member of the Church of Christ and she lived her faith.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; sister, Dorothy J. Dye and brother, Paul V. Sawyer.

She is survived by her husband of the home, Aden E. "Bud" Barrett Jr. Daughters, Lisa Wheeler and husband Danny, Dana Domstead and husband Jon, and son, Mark Barrett. Grandsons, Grant Domstead and wife Taylor and Ryan Domstead. Granddaughter, Megan Wheeler. Great granddaughter, Norah Domstead, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by beloved cats, Poco and Angel.

Her husband and children love her and will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 10 am with burial to follow at IOOF Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma.
