Doris Harpold joyfully celebrated her homecoming day when Jesus called her away Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Service: 2 p.m. Friday in Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home. She was born June 11, 1926, in Blue Ridge to George and Maudie Belle Atteberry. She was the youngest of 17 children, all of whom preceded her in death. Doris enjoyed 65 years of marriage to the love of her life, Warren Harpold. She was a longtime employee of Murdock Machine and Engineering, where she retired in 1988. She enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, cooking and dancing. Doris served her family with steadfast love and devotion and always believed humor was good for the soul. While she will be dearly missed, we know our goodbye is not the end (I Corinthians 15:54). Special thanks to Tender Heart Hospice Care and MCC for their compassionate care in her final days. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Warren; her son, Michael Harpold; and a daughter, Cynthia Brantley. Survivors: Daughter, Beverly Ahlstedt and husband, Rick; her son-in-law, Thomas Brantley; daughter-in-law Sue, Coursey; grandchildren, Shannon and Mark Hutcheson, Jason and Angela Brantley, Ashlea and Reagan Lucas, Hallie and Carl Jeffery, Michael Erick and Jamielynn Ahlstedt, Zachary and Jamie Ahlstedt, Jalah and Chad Lawrence, Delana and Glenn Brooks; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
