Funeral services for Ben Richard Riddle, 101, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel of Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Rick Carney officiating assisted by Charles Winchester. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation services will be held on Saturday from 1 - 2 p.m., at the funeral home prior to the funeral services.

He passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Whitesboro, Texas. He was born on October 30, 1912 in Delaware Bend, Texas to Louis and Susie (Sikes) Riddle. He married Alta Collins on October 12, 1935 in Gainesville, Texas. Ben had been a member of the Whitesboro Masonic Lodge AF & AM #263 for 65 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro for 56 years.

He loved going to Senior Citizen Center Dances and the game room at Oakridge. He enjoyed spending time with his long-time companion, Sue. He enjoyed and loved his life. He loved John Wayne movies and country and western music. He enjoyed the annual Delaware Bend Reunions.

He is survived by his son, Benny Riddle and wife, Jane, of Whitesboro; daughter, Mary Scarbrough and husband, Burrel, of Sandusky; daughter, Betty Carney and husband, Richard, of Denton; long-time friend and companion, Sue Tatum, of Whitesboro; sister, Julia Knox of Grand Prairie; nine grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Susie Riddle; and his wife, Alta Riddle; and his six siblings.

His seven grandsons and two grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
