Joseph Edward Hoover

Joseph Edward Hoover age 90, of Claymont, Delaware, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23rd at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford Delaware, where he was treated as a hero with care and dignity. He served along with his three brothers in WWII as part of the greatest generation. He was a former POW, serving under General George W. Patton. Ed was a soldier but was infinitely prouder to be a husband, father, grandfather and friend. He left for us a Godly legacy and extraordinary example of unselfishness.

Ed was an avid sportsman, playing semi-pro baseball, boxing, soccer, football and golf. He was pre-deceased by his wife Mary Hoover of 64 years.

He is survived by his daughters Patti Casassa, Valerie Ventresca and husband Gary, his grandchildren, Jennifer Bisicchia, Jonathan Casassa, Philip Ventresca, Julia McDerby husband Brian and great granddaughter Charlotte. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Marcia Barba and Peggy Hoover and many nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware 19806. Visitation will be from 10am -11:30am with a memorial service immediately following. He will be laid to rest following the service at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Linwood, Pa.
