Funeral services were conducted at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 1972, for Mrs. Leroy Tatro, who died at the Community Memorial hospital, Postville, Saturday Jan. 22, 1972, following a lingering illness. She had been hospitalized since January 16,1972. The Rev. Clarence Johnson officiated. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont.
Bertha Marie, daughter of Ole and Anna Anderson, was born July 7, 1881 near Clermont, receiving her education in what was the formerly known as the Woodland School North of Clermont. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church November 17, 1895. She was active in Church and served as officer in Priscilla Working Band and the Mission Society for several years.
August 1, 1905 she was married to LeLoy Tatro and they lived on the family farm west of Clermont.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Fred (Viola) Tann, St. Petersburg, FL; Mrs. Harry (Irene) Cooney and Mrs. Fred (Stella) Talley, Iowa City; Mrs. Harlan (Hazel) Stee, Castalia; Mrs. Robert (Andrea) Burrett, Waukon; Mrs. Almer Leo (Alice) Nelson, Clermont; three sons, Clarence and Roy, Clermont and Orval, Park City, Illinois; brothers Martin of Clermont; John, Elgin; Lester, West Union and a sister, Mrs. Bertina Halverson, Elgin. There are 32 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tatro was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 20, 1938, an infant daughter Evelyn Minerva; 5 brothers, Julius, Andrew, Elmer, Melvin and Gilbert; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
