Gretchen was born July 31, 1939, in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Hans & Myrtle Tronnes. She died November 10, 2010 from pancreatic cancer.

Gretchen graduated from Duluth East High School and the U of Minnesota, Duluth/ Minneapolis (Medical Technology). She began her med tech career at the UMN's Variety Club Heart Hospital; at Samaritan Hospital, St. Paul; and then at UMN's Student Health Service. She loved friends, traveling, reading (mysteries), life-long learning, college sports and volunteering. But most of all her family - especially her nieces and their children - gave her joy.

She volunteered as an election judge, the Hamline House Board, and for the Roseville library. Her learning experiences were varied, ranging from Roseville Police Academy to university/community classroom sessions. Travel included, among others, Elder Hostel trips, overseas destinations, Duluth and Detroit Lakes.

She is survived by her brother, Hans Tronnes, St. Louis Park and sister Lisabeth Susan Ross, Duluth.
