Born July 5, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Thomas and Leona Bennett Dill, she grew up in Waycross but had lived most of her life in Blackshear. She had been a teacher at Blackshear High School, a media specialist at Pierce County High School, and the Executive Director of the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, but also led a Jail Ministry with the Pierce County Jail. For the last several years, she was a full time Missionary, constantly working, praying and partnering with Christians in South America, Vermont, and Haiti.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Dan Bennett, Sr. of Blackshear; her son, Dan Bennett, Jr. (wife Kristi) of Blackshear, her daughter, Darby Benfield (husband Greg) of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, and Luke Bennett and Mary and Greg Benfield, all of Blackshear; her sister, Betty Jean Hurst (husband Robert) of Mountain Rest, SC; her brother, Tommy Dill (wife Sandra) of Blackshear; a special friend, Pastor Iliobert Destine of Haiti; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A graveside funeral service will take place Thursday afternoon at 4 PM at Ramah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Blackshear: Haiti Fund/Ministry of Pastor Iliobert Destine.
