Helen Pearl Moncrief of Enterprise died June 18, 2014, at the age of 89.

She was born to Jasper and Ella (Smith) Fish in Englewood, Colo., on Nov. 14, 1924. She spent all her school years in Englewood.

She lived in Colorado, Minnesota, Washington, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico and Oregon during her lifetime.

She worked in the shipyards during World War II and married soldier Bernard Doyle in 1942.

He died after the war and she was later married to Ellis Moncrief. He was flying helicopters for the natural gas pipeline company for which she was working as dispatcher when they met.

The couple lived in several states, and first moved to Joseph in 1977 when he was a contract officer for the U.S. Forest Service. They were living in Grangeville, Idaho, when he retired, and they moved back to Joseph after his retirement. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Mrs. Moncrief enjoyed her family and gardening, and spent her life after marriage as a mother and homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Susie Geer of Middleton, Idaho, and Peggy Brown of Oswego, Kansas; sons, Paddy Doyle of Homedale, Idaho, Mark Moncrief of Enterprise and Dan Moncrief of Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Connection. Bollman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
