Mr. Douglas Mackie Tarlton, 66, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Hospice House in Monroe. He was born in Union County on June 10, 1946, the first son of the late Roy and Doris Tarlton. He was a life time resident of the area.
Douglas graduated from Forest Hills High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was self employed as a logger and a timber cruiser, following in his fathers footsteps- true to the "Tarlton" family tradition. He was also very mechanically inclined; very talented with auto and small engine repair. His greatest hobby was fishing.
Survivors include: daughter, Lisa Eaton and her husband Roger and grandson Colin all of Morehead City and one step-grandson Jimmy of Winston Salem. His brother Steve Tarlton and his wife Lynn of Peachland, and his sister Sandra Hensley and her husband Darrell of Asheville and Daytona Beach. Several nieces and nephew Shawn Kelly; and very special "true" friends, Jerry Jerome and Ray Neal Carpenter
Funeral Services will be private.
Doug, this segment of your journey is over. You were a "tough one" right to the end. We will continue to see you as we watch Colin, "your very image", grow up.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 Roosevelt Blvd W. Monroe, N.C. 28112
