Walton was born on June 25, 1929 and passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009. Wilton was a resident of Fredericksburg, Texas at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife Glenda. His body will lie repose in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home until Friday morning 9:00 A. M. and from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. in the Church of Christ in Fredericksburg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A. M. in the Church of Christ in Fredericksburg, with Tommie LaFan officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Warner Cemetery, in Lake Victor, Texas, Friday afternoon at 3:00 P. M. The Johnston Family will receive friends from 4 to 6:00 P. M. Thursday afternoon in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Those who so desire may make memorial contributions in his memory to the Church of Christ, Cherokee Children's Home, or to the charity of their choice.

He married Glenda Carol Glover June 6, 1959. His parents were Thomas Benjamin Johnston (1890-1961) and Cornelia Ruth Debo (1894-1983).
