HEART TROUBLE IS FATAL TO KINSTON LADY ON YESTERDAY
Mrs. Julia E. Meeks, Mother of Former New Bern Teacher, Passes Away.
Many friends of Miss Mamie Meeks, formerly a member of the New Bern schools faculty, learned with regret yesterday of the sudden death from heart failure of her mother, Mrs. Julia E. Meeks, Thursday night at 8 o’clock at her home in Kinston.
The funeral was held in Kinston yesterday and the remains shipped to Charlotte where interment will be made today, according to advice reaching here. Among those of New Bern attending the funeral was Miss Nina Basnight, close friend of Miss Meeks and the family.
Surviving Mrs. Meeks who was about 70 years old, are two daughters, Miss Mamie Meeks, of Kinston, and Miss Grace Meeks, of Florence, S. C.; and three sons, Messrs. Will Meeks, of Rocky Mount, Ben Meeks of Florence, S. C., and
Edward Meeks,
of Smithfield, N. C.
