2-CAR CRASH CLAIMS UTAHN, 43

Granite Park - A Union man was injured fatally Thursday at 6:30 a.m. when he was thrown from his auto after a two-car collision at 3050 S. Main.
Delos E. Boggess, 43, 377 E. 7200 South, died in Salt Lake General Hospital at 7:15 a.m. of injuries suffered in the crash.
He was thrown from his car, striking his head on a concrete porch of the Valley Lumber Co., as his out-of-control vehicle sideswiped the building during a 120-foot arc.
Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff Arthur Allen said Mr. Boggess was northbound on Main when his car collided with another driven by Ronald L. Rose, 25, 3066 S. State. Mr. Rose was eastbound along 3050 South.
After impact, the Boggess car careened to the right, jumped a small ditch, leaped on the concrete porch, scraped the building and came to rest in a parking lot. Evidence showed Mr. Boggess was thrown from the car and his head struck the edge of the porch, said Deputy Allen.
Mr. Rose said he had stopped before proceeding across Main and failed to see the Boggess car until it was right in front of him. His car was spun around by the impact.
Delos Ensign Boggess was born in Union, August 22, 1916, to Ole A. and Rhoda Butterfield Boggess. He was graduated from Jordan High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by the Smith-Faus Drug Co. for 22 years.
Survivors include his mother, Union; five sisters, Mrs. Vernon (May) Cook, Mrs. Ordin (Rose) Curtis, Holladay; Mrs. Kenneth (Leola) Sutherland, Murray, Mrs. William Walter (Elma) Wilson, Bennion, Miss Olive Boggess, Union, and four brothers, Ewell Boggess, Concord, Calif.; Alton Boggess, North Salt Lake, Ruel and Harold Boggess, Union.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Union Second Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at his home Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Midvale City Cemetery.
