Elizabeth Brann Vanlandingham, 83, of Callao, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She was the widow of James William Vanlandingham, a retired operator for GTE Telephone Company, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she was the former head of the kitchen committee and the former leader of the Nannie Bland David Circle. She was also a member of the Callao Rescue Squad and of the Pioneers Telephone Company Organization.
Survivors are her three daughters, Carolyn V. Withers (Robert), Jean V. Brizendine (Sonny), and Brenda V. Marks (Billy); four sisters, Audrey Crowe, Irene Jones, Betty Pritchard, and Marie Smith; four grandchildren, Vicky Morris, Betsy Dzula, Robbie Withers, and Jennifer Gough; seven great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Katherine Morris, Ashlyn, Brayden and Naomi Gough, Sam and Will Dzula; and a special friend, Joyce Fitch, who she enjoyed going with to visit shut ins and residents of local nursing homes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Building Fund, P.O.
