Mavanee Leona Warner Routt, mother, grandmother, friend completed her sojourn here on earth Sept. 16, 2002.

Born in Salt Lake City, May 28, 1920 to Robert Leon and Thelma Elizabeth Dyer Warner. Mavanee was a most unique southern lady. At a young age she moved with her family to Texas and lived most of her life in Bryan and Chapel Hill. In 1982 following the death of her father and her husband, she and her mother returned to Utah to live near family in Orem. She loved her family; she loved people and made a friend of everyone she met, and her generous spirit has helped many in their journey through life. Throughout her life she has taught in various church callings as well as teaching in the Burton School District in Texas.

Mavanee was a beautiful woman who enjoyed beautiful things which she expressed in her dress, her home, her yard. She was an avid reader and experienced much enjoyment in attending classes at the UVSC Institute of Religion. She loved the Lord and found great comfort in the writings of the General Authorities and others.

Her sparkling eyes, infectious laugh, and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Mavanee Bear and her son Joseph E. Routt (Sharon R. Routt); grandchildren: Nathan Hudson and Alysoun Bear; Matthew Routt (Melissa), Joshua Routt (Amy), Rachel Routt Jones (James), Isaac Routt (Racheal), Jacob Routt; sister-in-law Pat Warner Shimmens and niece Michele Warner Ludlow. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband W. A. "Chip" Routt, and her brother Malcolm Leon Warner. Her family expresses gratitude to all those who have so lovingly cared for and supported her through these past months.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 19, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sunset Heights 6th Ward Chapel, 500 South 600 West in Orem. Interment was held in the Salt Lake City Cemetery Sept. 17, 2002.
