Maude Greenwood died peacefully while surrounded by her loving children in Salt Lake City on June 22, 2014.

She was born September 30, 1919 in Downey, Idaho to Edward Hunter Welling and Sarah Rasminnie Nielsen, and grew up on the family farm in Farmington with her sisters, Mae (Bunting), Wanda (Tiller), Dorothy (Wilson), and Marietta (Madsen), all deceased, and Lawrence Welling of Kaysville, where they learned to work hard, laugh freely, and love deeply.

She graduated from the University of Utah and then trained at the Mayo Clinic. She served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant during WW II as a physical therapist. She continued to work after the war in many hospital and medical settings in Salt Lake City.

Maude married her sweetheart, E. Earl Greenwood, Jr., of Midvale, on December 19, 1947, and they had three children, Gayle Ganster, Scott Greenwood, and Sally Stockton, and six wonderful grandchildren whom she has always been closely involved with and adored.

Member LDS Church.

An avid reader all her life, Maude started "reading" all her books on tape when her eyes began to fail her. She loved gardening, cooking, golf, bridge, traveling, and dancing; she lived life to the fullest.

Even after her beloved Earl passed away after sixty-four years of marriage, she was a cheerful inspiration to the many people who knew and loved her.

She made the most of every day, and always had a positive, joyful attitude. She will be greatly missed by us all.

Maude's family would like to thank the Wm. Christoffersen SL Veterans Home staff and management for their tender and loving care, and we send our love and thanks to all residents and staff at this amazing home. Bless you all.

A celebration of Maude's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Wm Christoffersen SL Veterans Home, 700 South Foothill Boulevard.
