June Ellen "June Bug" Lewandowski, 86, of South Bend, IN passed away at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN. She was born on July 17, 1927 in Bremen, IN to the late Herbert and Hazel (Bowser) Longbrake. On May 12, 1945 she married Thaddeus Lewandowski who preceded her in death on July 7, 1985.

Mrs. Lewandowski is survived by four daughters, Sandy (James) Machowiak of South Bend, IN, Nancy Hernandez of South Bend, IN, Terri (Willie Garza) Nagy of South Bend, IN and Sharon (Garry) Beidinger of South Bend, IN; two sons, Ray (Laurie) Lewandowski of South Bend, IN and Mark Lewandowski of South Bend, IN; twenty-seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betsy Harriman of South Bend, IN; brother, Douglas Longbrake of Moweaqua, IL; three half sisters, Gayle Ganus, Barbie Qualls, and Starr Smith and three half brothers, Dale, Luther and Keith Longbrake. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Lewandowski; three sons, Daniel, Ronald and Michael Lewandowski and a brother, Richard Longbrake.

Mrs. Lewandowski was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from South Bend Central High School and retired from K-Mart after thirty-two years of service. She loved Applebee's and playing Bingo. She loved her boys, sons and grandsons most of all. Everyone loved her wonderful apple pancakes and cheesecake.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June, 27, 2014 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.
