Daughter of George Worthington, (2) wife of Albyn Lincoln Adams, married June 11, 1896

Daughter of George Balfour and Hannah Criswell Worthington.
Granddaughter of Dr. Thomas Worthington, a native of Tennessee, who came to Illinois in 1818. Her Grandfather, Dr. Thomas Worthington, served in the Illinois State Senate. He met Abraham Lincoln and later entertained Mr. Lincoln in his home. The Old Worthington home was located in Pittsfield, where the Community Hospital now stands.

Minna Worthington graduated Monticello Seminary in 1891. She was a teacher in the public schools of Barry, Perry, Chapin, and Pittsfield, where she was high school principal. In her early twenties she was a candidate for the office of superintendent of Pike county schools. She lost by a narrow margin.

Married Dr. Albyn L. Adams on June 11, 1896 in Pike county, IL.
They had six children. Two of the children died in infancy, Mary and Albyn Lincoln. A daughter, Mrs. Helen Adams Shoemaker, died in 1921.

Survived by her husband, and the following children: Albyn Worthington Adams of Webster Groves, MO; George Worthington Adams of Cambridge, MA; and Mrs. Minna Margaret (H. R.) Hutcheson of Washington, D. C.

Minna Adams was an accomplished lady, active in civic and public service affairs. She was one of the organizers and founders of the Oaklawn tuberculosis sanatorium and the Josephine Milligan Open Air School, which received National attention. She served as Director of the Illinois State Tuberculosis Association. She was active in the fight for women's suffrage.

She was active in several clubs and organizations.
