Mr. Powell was a member of the Heyworth Christian Church, the Heyworth Lodge 251, A.F. & A.M., the Bloomington Scottish Rite Bodies, a member and former board member of the Funk Employees Credit Union, a member of Carl E. Miller American Legion Post 624, Heyworth and Bloomington Moose Lodge 745.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Powell worked for Funk Seed Co. at Bloomington for 28 years and later was a bus driver for 15 years for Heyworth Unit District 4 schools.
