Henry L. Collins, watchman at the Weimer Machine Company plant near Avon, was found dead in bed at 7 'o'clock Friday morning at his home, at Eleventh Avenue and Cumberland streets, this city. He appeared to be in his usual good health on Thursday when he returned from his work, despite his 80 years at age. The condition of the body indicated that he might have over-exerted himself while adjusting a truss he wore for a rupture, and which gave him considerable trouble for several years past. A certificate ascribing the cause of death to a cerebral hemorrhage was issued from the coroner’s office. Mr. Collins was born in Maryland and early in life learned the puddling trade. He worked in various iron towns, coming to Lebanon 30 years ago from Lancaster, and later worked in various industries here. His advancing age necessitated his retirement from that arduous work some years ago and for three or four years past he was engaged in protecting the Weimer Chain works buildings from fire, etc. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church and was held in high regard in the circles where he was known. He was twice married, leaving three children by the first wife, Frank Collins, of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Sue Miller, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sprecher, both of Lancaster, and by his second wife, the former Emma Foreman, six children, Mrs. Theodore Schott, Mrs. Emory Rutter, Mrs. Florence Hartman, Mrs. Laura (Harry) Hummel, all of Lebanon, and Walter and Arthur Collins, at home. There are several grandsons, among them being Henry Schott, who was raised by the grandparents, and who resides at the address given above. [Lebanon Semi Weekly News, March 9, 1931, Page 2]

The funeral of Henry L. Collins was held at 1.30 o'clock this afternoon from his late residence, at Eleventh Avenue and Cumberland streets. Rev. Will R. Baier, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, officiated. Interment was made at Kochenderfer’s cemetery with Rohland's in charge of the arrangements.
