Henry enlisted in Civil War (Union) Aug 16, 1862 at Grafton, WV. He was age 40.
He served in Company H, 12th WV Infantry.

Henry was wounded and was in hospital from April 1864 till his Honorable Discharge May 30, 1865. From the annual Adjutant General's report for WV 1864-1865, it states Henry was wounded and lost the use of his left arm.

Military headstone was ordered for Henry, Oct 1868 (info found at Ancestry.Com)

Henry & his brothers, Shadrach and Emery David, were all re-buried at Grafton National Cemetery on Jan 29, 1929
