Clara Moldenhauer Hagar Feb. 5, 1915 - Jan. 23, 2010 Former Resident of Antioch Clara was born in Taylor, North Dakota to Nels and Bertha Swenning. She was the youngest of nine children. At the age of 22 she married Eilert Moldenhhauer in 1937. They had two children, Carole Moldenhauer Weyand and Sheridan Moldenhauer. The family moved from Detroit, Michigan to Antioch, California in l948. They were founding members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Antioch. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was widowed in l978. She married Glover Hagar at the age of 77, and widowed again two years later. Clara traveled extensively in the United States and out of the country. She truly loved people, her home, gardening, dancing, singing, and taking long walks. She had a love of music, playing violin, piano, clarinet and the organ. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed parties. Clara was very active her entire life. She worked for Contra Costa County as a Home Health Aid for several years. She was active in the Antioch Senior Center and volunteered at Brown Bag. She was an insulin dependent diabetic for 64 years, and managed her diabetes very well. Clara was a staunch Lutheran, and very strong in her faith. She died peacefully with her son-in-law Dr. Bob Weyand and her daughter Carole at her side. She leaves many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held on February 13, 2010 at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 433 Moraga Way, Orinda, California at 11am.
