Mr. Goodell was a fireman on the Rock Island railroad with a run between Sibley and Gowrie. He had with his family been a resident of Gowrie for a little more than a year, but had been in the employ of the Rock Island road for more than six years, and before that time was a Clay county resident.
Orlo Frank Goodell was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Almond Goodell of Werley, Wisconsin, both of whom are now dead. He was born at Werley on January 18, 1886. He came to Clay county in 1907 and worked for a time on a farm in Summit township.
On September 30, 1908, he was united in marriage to Miss Blanche Lockey, also of Summit township and in 1912 he und his wife moved to Estherville, where he begun his railroad work. Later they moved to Watertown, South Dakota, and from there to Gowrie, where he died.
Mr. Goodell was in line for a promotion in his work and was to have been made an engineer In eight days
when death interfered with his plans
Mr. and Mrs. Goodell became the parents of three children, two of whom with the wife survive him. One little son, LeRoy, died in Infancy. The other children are: Florence, aged nine; Kenneth, aged six. Mr. Goodell is also survived by several brothers and sisters, who live in Wisconsin und South Dakota,
Funeral services were held from the home in Gowrie on Friday, January 9, and on Saturday the body was brought to Spencer, where further services were held from the M.E. church on Saturday afternoon in charge of the Rev. F.C. Taylor, pastor of the church.
Interment was made in Riverside
