Henry D. Peters, 82, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.

Affectionately known as "Hank" or "Harry", Mr. Peters proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was predeceased by his wife of forty-four years, Rosemarie (nee' Lombardo), his parents, Henry and Marguerite (Cassidy), and his eldest brother William.

Hank and his wife Rosemarie were most proud of their three sons, all of whom are Eagle Scouts and graduates of St. Peter's Prep and Manhattanville College. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons David and wife Christine, Richard and wife Barbara, and Daniel and wife Kim. Hank is also survived by his brothers Robert and Jerome as well as his six beautiful grandchildren Brett, Briel, Gwen, Stephanie, Ella and Juliana.

Hank earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Seton Hall University. He worked for Dunn & Bradstreet and later retired from Cleveland Cotton Products as a salesman in 2007. He enjoyed playing softball and participating in several bowling leagues and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan!

Hank loved working with children. He coached Little League Baseball at Washington Park, and worked with St. Paul of the Cross School in many fundraising efforts. Hank became very active with the Boy Scouts of America in his role as Committee Chairman for Troop 466 at St. Paul of the Cross, Jersey City where he served for forty years. He also worked for the Boy Scouts on District and Council levels and with the Catholic Committee on Scouting. Hank earned the prestigious St. George Award, Archbishop's Award and District Award of Merit, Bronze Pelican, The Silver Beaver and Vale La Pena Award.
