Joseph B Strange of Bloomfield passed away Thursday February 25, at Owen Valley Health Care Campus in Spencer. Born March 30, 1922 in Washington, Indiana the son of John E. and Anna C. (Williams) Strange, he was a graduate of Washington High School Class of 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps January 1942, where he served during World War II and Korea, retiring from the Air Force in August of 1964. He moved his family to Bloomfield and worked at NSWC Crane until retiring in February 1986. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Middletown, Ky. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille (Booker) Strange of Bloomfield; daughter Susan (Neil) Yake of Bloomfield; sons John (Brenda) Strange of Louisville, KY, Tom (Joyce) Strange of Cory, IN, and Doug (Kim) Strange of El Dorado, CA; grandchildren Kriste Strange, Holly Sanford, Erik Strange, Jessica Holtsclaw, Justin Yake, Ryan Strange, Chad Strange and C.J. Strange; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother George Strange; his son David Strange; and his great-grandson Abe Holtsclaw. Visitation will be at Holy Name Catholic Church in Bloomfield, Monday March 1, 2010 at 12:30p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30p.m. with Father Michael Madden officiating. Military burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
