CARL HENRY SR., 85 - of Egg Harbor Township, entered into eternal rest with his heavenly father on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at ARMC Mainland Division Hospital, Pomona, NJ. Known by many favorite names, Pop was born on July 22, 1928 in Atlantic City Hospital, Atlantic City, NJ to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel C. and Vivian (nee Thompson) Henry (both deceased).

Pop resided in Ocean City, NJ for more than 60 years, moving to Egg Harbor Twp., NJ in 1986 to live out his retirement years. Pop completed his education in the Ocean City School District, graduating High School in 1945. Eager to serve his country, Pop joined the Navy, faithfully serving in World War II on the U.S.S. Tidewater for 4-plus years. After his Navy service, Pop transfer red to the Army National Guard, serving 26-plus years. Pop was involved in many Fraternal and Civic organizations; Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World as Exalted Ruler, Kiwanis International, American Legion Post No. 81 as Sargent at Arm, Gaslight Club of South Jersey Industries, Ocean City Youth Baseball as Coach of 9-12 year olds, and Boy Scouts of America. Pop was employed by South Jersey Gas as a Master Service Technician for 36 years. He also operated his own business known as Handy Hank. He helped many young and old in the surrounding communities repairing whatever was necessary. He worked a host of jobs throughout his life to meet his family's needs.

Pop (aka. Mikey, Sonny, Uncle Mike, Pop Pop, Sonny Boy, Hank, and Mike) leaves to cherish his loving memory: Gloria Harmon, Bridgeport, CT, Marjorie Jordan, Stratford, CT, Janet Easley, Ocean City, NJ, Joan Thurman, Lilburn, GA, Alma Glenn, Hinesville, GA, Joseph W. Henry, Pleasantville, NJ, Sonia Henry, Pleasantville, NJ, John Henry Sr., Ocean City, NJ, and Cheryl Liles, Clearwater FL. He was predeceased by his loving brothers, Daniel L. Henry and Mark Henry; and sisters Vivian E. Culver, Sylvia R. Henry. Dad's legacy lives on through "the love of his life" Lithian L. Henry; seven children: Darlene Washington (Anthony deceased) -Somers Point, NJ, Paul Harmon -Williamstown, NJ, Monte Harmon -EHT, NJ, Ronald Harmon (William) -Chesilhurst, NJ, Carl Henry, Jr. (Alberetta) -EHT, NJ, Tracey Henry -EHT, NJ, and Todd Henry Sr. (Leslie) -EHT, NJ. Special Blessings for each of his 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10am - 11am, on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Salem United Methodist Church, 815 S. Main Street, Pleasantville. A service will follow at 11am. Burial will be in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor. The family of Carl Henry, Sr. entrusted his care, services and burial to Adams-Perfect Funeral Home (adams-perfect.com)
