Aberdeen - Rose Nelson, 92, of Aberdeen, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services, Aberdeen. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1732 South Main St., Aberdeen with Rev. Tanya Rist officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m., Tuesday, and from 8-noon, Wednesday, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Rose Kiesz was born on Sept. 12, 1913, at Hosmer, S.D., to Gottlieb and Maria (Bieber) Kiesz. She attended two years of rural school near Hosmer. The family then moved into Hosmer, where she continued her schooling. Rose married Oliver F. Nelson on Sept. 15, 1935, at Hope Lutheran Church, near Hosmer. They made their home in Hillsview. When her husband entered the U.S. Navy, they moved to Coeur D Alene, Idaho. They moved to Aberdeen when Oliver was discharged. Rose and Oliver were foster parents to a number of children. She worked as an office assistant to Dr. Gelber for several years. Her life revolved around her family and they have many fond memories of their "Nana". She became a resident of ManorCare Health Services in November 1997. Oliver passed away on July 26, 2000, and Rose continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, where she was active with the Zion Lutheran Church Women, Fellowship Circle and the Craft and Quilting Ladies. She was also a member of the Aberdeen Area Senior Citizens Center and R.S.V.P. Rose is survived by one daughter, Gwen (Bruce) Carson of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Stacy (Randy) Thistle of Bemidji, Minn., David (Lisa) Carson of Langford, S.D., Jim (Amy) Carson of Scott AFB, Ill. and Beth Anne Carson of Aberdeen; six great-grandchildren, Nathan (Audrey) and Geoff Thistle of Bemidji, Jesse, Jenae and Jordan Carson of Langford and Ryan Carson of Scott AFB and one great-granddaughter, Aeris Thistle of Bemidji. She is also survived by one sister, Martha Hettich of Aberdeen; one sister-in-law, Matilda Kiesz of Aberdeen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her brothers, Alex, Edward and Reinhold Kiesz and sisters, Lydia Hettich, Ann Berreth and infant Emma. Casket bearers will be David Carson, Jim Carson, Randy Thistle, Dennis Hettich, Alex Kiesz and Henry Hopfinger.
