Three airmen lost their lives in the crash of one of 156 RAF Squadron's Vickers Wellington III (#BJ716) aircraft at Kings' Ripton, 3 miles NNE of Huntingdon. Three other aircrew were injured, but survived, the crash. The Wellington had taken flight from RAF Warboys for an air operation over Saarbrucken, Germany.
The three airmen who perished in this accident were-
RCAF Flight Sergeant John James LUCAS,
RCAF Flight Sergeant Louis KRIGER and
RAFVR Sergeant Patrick HAYES.
