Midshipman on USS Macedonian. Dueled with fellow midshipman Alexander G. Gordon, and was hit at the first exchange, dying almost immediately. Not qualified for a Catholic burial, he was buried on the shore on 3 Mar 1819, "near the place where the victims of the Essex-Phoebe battle had been buried some five years before."
