W. LaVern Bolton, 80, of rural Nauvoo, Ill., died at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Born Jan. 24, 1928, in Hancock County, Ill., he was the son of John Harley and Maude Inez Sherman Bolton. On Dec. 26, 1957, he married Judith Holtsclaw.

Mr. Bolton farmed in Sonora Township and worked as a Burrus Seed dealer. He was a lifelong resident of the rural Nauvoo, Sonora Township area. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1946.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Debra West of Hamilton, Ill.; one son, Tim Bolton of rural Nauvoo; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home in Hamilton, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Bolton will be at 10 a.m Monday at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home with the Revs. Lee Ourth and Mark Lowman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

Memorials have been established for American Lung Association and Western Illinois Threshers.
