Cecelia T. Smith, 97, of Pottsville, passed away Friday at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville.
Born in McAdoo, Nov. 7, 1916, she was a daughter of the late John and Antonina Tecza Galat.
She worked as a machine operator for Bittle Manufacturer, Pottsville, and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
In addition to her parents, Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Stanley Smith; three brothers, Stanley, Andrew and Leon; and three sisters, Mildred, Louise and Dorothy. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Cecelia is survived by two daughters, Carol Bender and her husband, Bill, Port Carbon, and Jane Manganell and her husband, James, Sinking Spring; seven grandchildren, Linda, David, Robert, Michele, Irene, Billy and Renee; 14 great-­grandchildren; 14 great-great-­grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Hillside Road, Pottsville. Interment was held privately at the convenience of the family. Robert A. Evans Jr., 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, is in charge of arrangements. Please send condolences to www.robertaevansjrfh.com.
