A V-2 rocket that struck the 284th Combat Engineers Battalion B Company Command Post. It came down around 12:20 PM. Some of the men were gathering at this location for lunch. Eight men were inside the building when the V-2 struck and others were milling around outside before lunch was served. Two of the men recovered from the debris were dead, another died en-route to a hospital. Killed in the blast were 2d Lt. Sass, Sgt. Gardner, and Pfc. Spinos; 31 other men were seriously injured—one of which was Captain Henry, B Company Commander.
