Jacob K. Breneman, eldest son of Mrs. Margaret Breneman and the late Captain C. K. Breneman, died shortly before 10 o'clock on the morning of the 29th ult. He was in his 26th year and had been sick for one week with typhoid pneumonia. He was the main support of his widowed mother and was a very worthy young man. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon and was largely attended. He having been an employe of George Fleisher's planing mill, that establishment was closed to give his late fellow employes an opportuniyt to participate in the obsequies, which they did in a body. Mr. Fleisher was also present to pay his tribute of respect to a faithful workman. A large delegation from Newport Lodge, No. 12, I. O. of O. F., was in attendence. Mr. Breneman was one of the most active and earnest members of the lodge, where his death is deeply deplored. The services were in charge of Rev. S. E. Smith. The Odd Fellows' burial rites were also recited at the grave. The pallbearers were the following Odd Fellows: Samuel B. Sweger, Philip Nichey, Charles W. Oren, Charles B. Gantt, Peter Hertz and John Hoffman.
