Mr. Jefferson was born in Surry County Oct. 12, 1911, the son of the late Daniel and Mecie Bolen Jefferson.
He was a retired tobacco farmer, a member of Ivy Green Baptist Church, and a member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF & AM.
Survivors include eight daughters and three sons-in-law: Pansy Pedigo of King, Mecie and James Williams and Sarah Redman, all of Kernersville, Barbara Evans of Walnut Cove, Shirley Jones and Gaynell Hawks, both of Mount Airy, and Doris and James Bullin and Josie and Sherman Widener, all of Dobson; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Kermit Jefferson and Wayne and Pam Jefferson, all of Mount Airy and Roscoe Jefferson Jr. and Brenda Jefferson of Lewisville; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Jefferson was preceded in death by a daughter, Debrah Lynn Jefferson; a son, Roy Jarvis Jefferson; two grandchildren; four brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dale Bass. Burial will follow in Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday night at the funeral home where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
