Austin American-Statesman, October 10, 2006:

Michelle McKay Otto was born July 8, 1977 in Houston, Texas, and was baptized in Calvary Episcopal, Richmond. For the past six years she has lived in her cabin on the 9E Ranch in Bastrop County. Two of her passions in life were serving her community as a paramedic and using her wonderful creativity as a photographer. Sunday morning, October 8, returning from shooting a wedding, she died in an auto accident near Hondo, Texas.

As a student at Westlake High School, she began serving as a volunteer firefighter and on her 18th birthday, she passed her EMT certification. She graduated from the Taylor Fire Academy, attended UTSA, Temple College and went on to become certified as a paramedic. She has been serving as a Senior Paramedic in Fayette County. She coupled her work with her new found passion for creative photography in portraiture and weddings, using a photojournalist style. She has received several national awards of recognition. She was an accomplished English rider, and loved to ski and scuba dive. She strived to have God use her in her pursuits of life.

She is survived by: her parents Joan (Yelderman) and Kent Bohls of Bastrop, and McKay Otto of Houston; her sister Kathryn and husband Dakota Ward of Portland, Oregon; Amanda and Tom Jenkins of Houston; Josh and Liz Bohls of Austin; nieces and nephews, Olivia, Dylan, Conrad and Smith; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
